Meta Behavioral Interview Prep
Meta's behavioral interview digs into how you handle conflict, drive impact and grow from feedback. Interviewers push for detail: what you did, what changed, and what you would do differently. Practicing with someone who works at Meta now helps you pick stories that hold up to that.
How the Meta interview works
- Recruiter screen. Your background, the role and what you are looking for next.
- Role screen. A technical or role-specific interview with someone on the team.
- The full loop. Several interviews, usually virtual. For most roles one of them is a dedicated behavioral interview, alongside role-skill rounds.
- Debrief. Interviewers share feedback and the hiring team decides.
- Team match. For many engineering roles you choose a team after passing the loop.
Common question themes
- Conflict: Tell me about a time you disagreed with a teammate or manager. How did it end?
- Driving impact: Tell me about the project you are proudest of. What was your part and what changed because of it?
- Growth: Tell me about critical feedback you received and what you did with it.
- Moving fast: Tell me about a time you shipped quickly with incomplete information. What trade-offs did you make?
- Being direct: Tell me about a time you had to give someone difficult feedback.
- Ambiguity: Tell me about a time you had to decide what to work on with little direction.
How to prepare
- Pick stories where you personally changed the outcome, and be ready to explain your reasoning.
- Expect several follow-ups on each story. Know the details, including what went wrong.
- Have a real conflict story. Saying you never disagree with anyone is a red flag.
- Show measurable results where you can, from your own work.
