Senior UX Researcher

Netflix

About this interview

A spoken practice interview for a Senior UX Researcher role, run the way teams at Netflix are known to interview. You talk out loud with an AI interviewer for four to six questions, with real follow-up probes, then get an honest read on where you stand.

How this interviewer behaves: High-judgment culture. Reward researchers who form strong recommendations, not findings decks.

About the role

A Senior UX Researcher at Netflix works on a service that hundreds of millions of members open expecting the next thing to be worth their evening. There is no process to hide behind: high context, few rules, and the call is yours to defend. At this level you are expected to set direction for an area, bring partner teams with you, and be right often enough that people stop asking for the reasoning.

What you'd do

  • Tell a senior leader their favourite idea is wrong, with the evidence you actually have.
  • Choose the study that changes a decision, not the study that is easiest to defend.
  • Own the research strategy for an area, including deciding what is not worth studying.
  • Change a roadmap with evidence, and defend the conclusion when it is unwelcome.
  • Raise the bar: mentor researchers, review study designs, and build panels and infrastructure other people reuse.

What they look for

  • Judgment to operate with high autonomy and very little process, and the candour to match.
  • Five or more years of product research, with specific examples of work that changed a product decision.
  • Rigour about causality, sampling and bias — and the ability to explain it to people who are not researchers.
  • Comfort delivering findings a senior stakeholder does not want.
  • The skill to turn qualitative depth and quantitative scale into one coherent story.

This is a practice interview, not a job posting. ADPList is not hiring for this role and is not recruiting on the company's behalf.

What this interview weighs most

  • The quality of the calls you made, and why you made them
  • Concrete detail: numbers, tradeoffs, what you personally did
