About the role
A Product Manager at Notion works on a connected workspace that every customer bends into a shape nobody designed. The work is keeping one system simple while it generalises to every use case. At this level you are expected to own a feature end to end and be trusted with the craft, while direction is still set with you rather than by you.
What you'd do
- Choose between the power users who want depth and the new users who churn on complexity.
- Ship primitives rather than features, and accept that people will use them wrong.
- Own an area: define the problem, write the spec, and ship it with design and engineering.
- Choose the one metric that decides whether the launch worked, and say so plainly when it does not move.
- Cut scope deliberately, and be explicit about what you are not doing.
What they look for
- A record of shipping general-purpose tools without letting them become unusable.
- Around three years shipping software, with a launch you can describe in real detail.
- Comfort with data: you can pull the numbers yourself, and you know when they are lying to you.
- Writing clear enough that a decision survives without you in the room.
- Judgment about when to move fast and when being wrong is too expensive.
