Senior UX Researcher

Amazon

About this interview

A spoken practice interview for a Senior UX Researcher role, run the way teams at Amazon are known to interview. You talk out loud with an AI interviewer for four to six questions, with real follow-up probes, then get an honest read on where you stand.

How this interviewer behaves: Customer-obsession and written-narrative culture. Reward researchers who tie findings to a customer problem and a measurable outcome.

About the role

A Senior UX Researcher at Amazon works on retail, devices, and cloud services where every team starts from a written customer problem. Decisions are argued in writing, and a claim without data behind it does not survive the meeting. At this level you are expected to set direction for an area, bring partner teams with you, and be right often enough that people stop asking for the reasoning.

What you'd do

  • Turn customer research into evidence that holds up inside a written narrative document.
  • Connect qualitative findings to the metrics a team is already accountable for.
  • Own the research strategy for an area, including deciding what is not worth studying.
  • Change a roadmap with evidence, and defend the conclusion when it is unwelcome.
  • Raise the bar: mentor researchers, review study designs, and build panels and infrastructure other people reuse.

What they look for

  • Specific stories of research that changed a decision, told with the data behind them.
  • Five or more years of product research, with specific examples of work that changed a product decision.
  • Rigour about causality, sampling and bias — and the ability to explain it to people who are not researchers.
  • Comfort delivering findings a senior stakeholder does not want.
  • The skill to turn qualitative depth and quantitative scale into one coherent story.
